Walmart Affiliate vs Amazon’s Affiliate Program is Best For YOU ?

Hey everyone! I am excited to be delving into this practical topic. In today’s post, we are going to focus on how you can earn money with your blog or your company website. As you continue to expand or as you get started on your website your goal is to make money. One way you can do that is through Affiliate Programs.

Walmart Affiliate vs Amazon Affiliate Program

Walmart Affiliate vs Amazon  Affiliate Program ?

What exactly is an Affiliate Program? Basically, it is where you sign up with a company and promote their products on your blog or website.

The most popular programs out there are Amazon and Walmart. So, in today’s post, we are going to analyze the differences and how each one works. Also, get ready for some math because we are going to create some examples for you to base your websites on. We are additionally going to talk about the best options for beginners and as always, my final opinion on which one is right for you.

What Is The Walmart Affiliate Program?

For Walmart's Affiliate Program it is quite easy. All you have to do is sign up for free and earn a commission. The way this will work is that you will have to submit your website to Walmart. They then will review your website and decide if you are eligible.

They reserve the right to decide but basically, they just want to make sure they aren’t linked with something inappropriate. It is easy to get approved so don’t even worry about that. Once you are in their program, they will send you a weekly newsletter with banners and text links. You can then arrange them for your website as you see fit.
Another great option you will have is to access the Affiliate Member Center. Here you can get even more banners, links and data feed. You will be able to find older banners too. These things will all help you be able to customize your website with your own style. You will have the option here to generate links to specific products and put them on your website so you can make some money. Also, if you get stuck and are unsure of how to best navigate everything you will be able to contact a Walmart team member and they can help. Another awesome feature is that they also have video tutorials if you are not quite sure the best way to get into advertising. You can even watch them before you are a member.

Every time your visitors go to Walmart.com from your website and make a qualifying purchase you then get to make a commission.

This means that every banner or link that a visitor uses could potentially make you money. The only key to that is if they then have to buy something from Walmart.com. That leads us to our next question, how much can you actually make?

How much can you earn with Walmart’s Affiliate Program?

Now let’s move on to how much can you really earn from this program. Walmart states that you can earn 1%-4% on someone’s purchase through your website. As a side note, you can make 10% on contact lenses if you happen to be in that field or are talking about them. Anyway, at first, look that seems rather good. We are going to break down some numbers here and talk about it. Get ready for that math!

As an example, we are going to talk about someone making a $100 purchase through one of your links or banners. The commission on that purchase could be $1 to $4 depending on what it is and how they decide to it is categorized. For the sake of this scenario, we can average that out. That will mean you could make $2 every time someone purchases $100 off Walmart.com. A local business on average gets about 500 views a month.

Perhaps your traffic is much more or less. So, to continue only a small percentage is going to make purchases off your website. We could say that maybe 50 people make this type of purchase. That would give you $100 a month. Even if we doubled that number of people that would be $200 a month. Keep in mind that you could get just 1% which would have you making $50 or $100 a month.

Both of those scenarios would give you a good amount of money. Nothing that we could write home about, but all the small things do add up. The only issue to think about in this example is that would mean that a total of $5000 or $10,000 would need to be purchased through your website links. It really is a little farfetched. It isn’t impossible by any means. Again, this all depends on your website's traffic and on your topic and product you want to feature. So, depending on all that it could give you a good commission.

Let us now compare and talk a little about Amazon.

How do you become an Amazon Affiliate?

Remarkably like Walmart, you just sign up for free and can make a commission when visitors purchase through your links. For amazon though you can have a blog , a website, or be a content creator. If you are an influencer, they have a separate program for you. In order to qualify as an influencer, you need to have either YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Affiliate Stores or Instagram.

During your initial sign-up and your review, they can at any point reject your application. You can fix these things if they find something wrong with your website.

Honestly though if you read their policy and follow their rules this shouldn’t even be an issue. The biggest one I see as a concern is making sure you link things correctly and having good content that will help promote Amazon.
This program is also referred to as the Amazon Associates Program. It really is simple to use. It has millions of products and programs you can link from your website. They also have link-building tools so you can customize your website and make it easy for people to buy from you.
Amazon does have a few qualifications that you must fit.

They are looking for someone who is going to add value to their customer's experience.

One of the things to keep in mind is, that after you sign up an associate member is going to check in after 180 days. In that time period your visitors would have needed to make 3 purchases. At first, that might seem a little scary because it doesn’t include you making them. But pause for a second and let us realize that you have 6 months to get those purchases! That will not be too hard. In their review, they will be looking at all the sites you provided them.

They are checking them to make sure you are providing a good customer experience. The last thing you need to do is make sure all your sites are public and have original content.

You should not have any private groups anywhere. Amazon is going to be looking for compelling content even if ads are removed. A good practice that this program recommends it to have at least 10 posts when you apply.
This might seem a little more overwhelming compared to Walmart. In reality though if you are determined to have a great blog or an awesome website this won’t pose an issue.

How much can you earn with Amazon Affiliate Marketing?

This is where the programs start to differ. To make a commission with Amazon it is categorized into product type. Even though Walmart’s is too, Amazon's commission rang is much greater. So, depending on what your website is about or what products you're featuring, you can make quite a bit of money. A breakdown of this is shown here:

From Amazon’s Affiliate Program

This is going to pay way more than Walmart's Affiliate Program. Amazon also has a bounty eligible program. This program covers things like a baby registry or trial programs as an example. So, to go over Amazon’s Affiliate Program using the same scenario as Walmart’s it shows that you will be making a better commission.

It looks like for most of the stuff it will be a 3% - 4% rate. That means even on the lower end you could make either $150 or $300 a month. I keep saying this, but it is just going to depend on your products and sight traffic.

What Is The Best Option For Beginners?

Now that we know how both work and that amazon will make you a little more money, you may wonder which one is best for beginners. This really depends on your goals and products. I feel like both are good options for totally different reasons.

Let us look at Walmart first on why it’s a good beginner option and then at Amazon.
Walmart's Affiliate Program is quite simple and easy to get into. For beginners, this is a great option if you’re just starting your blog or website out.

The only real downside is that it will be hard for you to make money from the Walmart program, even in the long run. I love that Walmart helps you with adding banners and links for you.
Amazon Associates Program is really where you can make money.

I do feel that it is simple enough to navigate and easy to incorporate into your website.

For beginners, the only downside is that you do have to have an established website. That is not to say it can’t be for beginners, but you need to be thorough and get good content and posts on your website. Also, you want to make sure you get traffic on your site so you can get at least 3 purchases in the first 6 months. Again, that’s plenty of time to get your website established and worthy of Amazon’s review.
So, which one really is best? Personally, I feel like Amazon is the better option.

I feel like their selection is just bigger and the fact that you can make money is a reason to start there. However, if you feel like you’re not going to be diligent and put the time into your blog or website then Walmart would be a better option for you because it’s a guarantee that you will be accepted.

My Final words

In conclusion, you need to set up an Affiliate Program if you want to be profitable in your website endeavors. I think Amazon is the way to go because both are simple enough, but the goal is to make money. Amazon is especially for you if you are in the beauty industry. Honestly, the commission from them is great. You can’t go wrong with either option though!

So, what are you waiting for?! Go sign up and get started on being successful with either Affiliate Program!
